great

I paid a tribute to my father in law recently and described him as a great person, one thought I have had to this is that Brian never described himself as great, he wasn’t a man who was in the limelight very often, he preached occasionally but was never what you would describe as a great preacher (although he was excellent and exceedingly articulate), however everyone who came into contact with Brian confirmed what I had written. Brian cared for other people; he was interested in other people succeeding. He had a knack of making other people look and feel great. He never self publicised himself or made himself look good, he was modest.

In 2nd Corinthians we see the apostle Paul setting an example of conduct and right priorities, in verse five he says” Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God”.

What a great example of how to live, what a great man

I have moved

Welcome to the all new vocal revolution pages, I thought I would come alongside the great blogs already here from Bethel and James

home coming

October 2, 2007

I am not a Stokie, I say this because James mentioned more than once this weekend that he is and that in relocating to Bethel he is coming home, that is fantastic for him although I am worried about the amount of oatcakes he is consuming at the moment. For Deb and myself it is different, this is a new city for us and as such can be a bit daunting,we drove around Saturday afternoon looking at a couple of houses and trying to weigh up various areas, I nearly crashed into a poor girl in a Corsa because I don’t know the road system. People I don’t know in shops keep calling me duck and until last week I had never heard of, let alone sampled an oatcake. To be honest the thought of moving house, changing jobs, finding new schools for the kids is not something we are looking forward to so it was great to walk into Bethel on Sunday morning and get such a fantastic warm and genuine welcome from everyone, people who where genuinely interested in us, offers to go for meals it felt really good, in fact walking into Bethel Sunday morning felt a little bit like home.
