Selah, concept and Me

November 4, 2007

Last year was a landmark for us, we celebrated 10 years of the Selah Youth Conference, We have seen hundreds of young people become Christians, we have seen scores of Young people rise up into leadership many in full time church ministries, there is nothing like seeing young people with no hope and no belief in their future transformed by Jesus into Warrior and princesses, habits broken, strongholds smashed

This year we have launched concept ministries. We believe, just like Esther, that God is calling us for such a time as this. As we have spoken to leaders up and down the country, we have detected a rumbling, a rumour which is being proved true. People like us so excited about what God is starting to do in this great country of ours.

We want to champion you, to stand shoulder to shoulder with you. We believe passionately that iron sharpens iron. We think what you are doing is great and we want to support you, resource and learn from you.

We are living to do great exploits for our Lord and King and believe that together we can go higher, faster, deeper into the amazing things God has in store for us. In a nutshell we are better together.I was thinking about why I have invested so much of my life into Selah and now concept, three things came to mind that Selah excels in and makes it all worthwhile

1.      reach: we have seen God impact peoples lives in an increadable way as people have seen Gods grace at work, we have seen miracles, answers to prayer

2.      Teach: we have seen some great teaching in practical Christian living that can be acted upon. those who yearn to know more about God, helping them discover their God given potential in order to live life to the fullest

3.      Unleash – we have commissioned young people to go back home and impact their communities for Christ, I love the last night at the Selah Conference, we call it the commissioning night as we empower the young people to go how and serve in their churches and communities, to live for Christ

With this in mind we will be holding a strategic leadership consultation day on the 24th November where we will speak to you about the future, we have already provisionally booked Selah for next year at a new exciting venue (we will reveal where at the consultation day) we want your input, we value your concil. On tp of this both myself and James will be doing a leadership session plus a great chance to catch up with friends, drink great coffee and just do some life together. In the evening be our VIP guest at the induction of James and Becky with a chance to hear Robert Mountford an excellent speaker and motivator

I would urge you not to miss this

why blog?

Appraently this week is blogging week, no I don’t know why either, the stuff below is taken from the Blog of Craig Groeschel who is the Pastor of the excellent lifechurch.tv, he is a regular blogger and explains here the reason he does so, check out his blog at swerve.lifechurch, Craig writes

I thought long and hard before I made the commitment to blog. Like you, I don’t need another thing to fill my time. After praying about it, I decided blogging should be an important part of our ministry. Here are a few reasons why you might consider blogging:

  • You can mentor other leaders. Mentoring pastors is the reason for this blog. Instead of talking to one pastor at a time, the blog enables Bobby and me to talk to thousands.
  • You can communicate with your church. This is not my goal, but I know tons of pastors who do this effectively.
  • You can journal what God is showing you. Many people could benefit from what God is doing in your life. A blog is a good outlet for sharing.
  • You can build new friendships. Many of you have become friends as a result of our daily blogging interaction.
  • You can minister to people. Just as God might use your sermon, God can use your written words.
  • You can share Christ with people who stumble across your blog.
  • Your ideas can travel. Not only can you speak to your primary audience, but others may pick up on what you’re saying. They might also link to you, which can help spread your message.
